Call of the Haunted is a relatively obscure PS1 horror game from 1995. Due to disputes between the publisher and the developer, as well as the mysterious disappearance of the game’s lead designer, it’s remained unplayed outside of a handful of copies released in eastern Europe. Those who claim to own an original copy of the game say it was released in a buggy, unfinished state. Because of this, the game is unplayable on modern emulators.

The game’s plot follows Alice, a young 20-something year old journalist who inherits a dilapidated mansion from her great uncle. Upon arriving at the home, she discovers that the home is occupied by demonic occultists who are living in the walls. The player must assist Alice in escaping the mansion while preventing the occultists from summoning demons into our world.

While the game is unplayable, Callous Quartz Records was able to comb through the game code and access the music from the game composed by the Swedish-American partnership of Andor and OLD LUNG. The soundtrack features experimental electronic music that was rare for games of the era. The soundtrack is presented here as a high quality audio download so it can be experienced as if the game was properly released in the 90’s.
